Shakshuka

Shakshuka is an ancient dish that is a staple across most of the Middle East. It’s made with cooked tomatoes, capsicum, chilli, and spices, simmered slowly for hours to create a deep and complex flavour from these simple ingredients.

Traditionally served with eggs at breakfast, its versatility makes it perfect for any meal. With Gusstop Kitchen Shakshuka, all the hard work has been done for you. Our ready-prepared Shakshuka means you can enjoy an authentic, delicious dish with family or friends in just minutes.

It’s perfect for a relaxed weekend brunch or a quick and easy dinner for busy weekday evenings. Once you’ve tried it, Gusstop Kitchen Shakshuka will quickly become a family favourite.

Made using a traditional family recipe passed down through generations, we can’t wait to share it with you and welcome you into our Gusstop family.

Sourdough

What makes a perfect Shakshuka even better? A freshly baked loaf of bread to soak up all the delicious flavours.

Gusstop Kitchen’s sourdough comes frozen, so you can always keep a loaf or two in the freezer—ready to pop in the oven and warm through whenever you want freshly baked bread.

“Food is love”
“When I was five, I knew that shakshuka was the most magnificently delicious dish ever.

From my mum and aunties, I learned that food feeds the body, mind, and culture. Even the simplest Middle Eastern dish is prepared with love and respect—for the ingredients and the people who eat it.”

The best part? It’s prepared at lightning speed!

Simply heat a generous splash of olive oil in a deep, medium-sized pan, add the Shakshuka sauce, and bring it to a simmer. Crack two eggs per person on top, keeping them separated.

Cover the pan with a lid or foil and simmer on low for about five minutes, until the eggs are just starting to firm. Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh coriander and crumbled feta (optional), and enjoy with your favourite bread to soak up all the scrumptious richness of the sauce.

Enjoy—or sah-teen, as we say in Arabic!

“We love that it’s super easy to prepare, and the whole family loves it! Your Shakshuka is now a Friday night tradition!”
James Bailey, Christchurch

“Such a fabulous, quick, and super healthy meal option for our busy household. The kids love Shakshuka, eggs and avocado, with crunchy hot bread to mop it all up!“
Lucy Thompson, Wanaka
“Gustop Shakshuka is my go-to for a quick, delicious breakfast! The flavours are so yummy and I love that it’s made with real ingredients. It’s super easy—hardly any dishes! Every time I make it for friends, they love it. Such a winner!"
